Our company - represented by the founders and employees - is committed to adopting solutions, practices and behaviors that actively contribute to preventing, mitigating or even eliminating the negative impacts of tourism on the environment and the local community, always seeking to maximize the benefits of sustainable tourism development, thus enhancing the presence of our brand in these destinations.
The 'Story Studio' brand values reflect our total concern and commitment to the practices and principles of sustainability, which are present in a large number of the measures we implement and the choices we make throughout the process of renovating buildings and designing the amenities, services and experiences we provide to our guests.
Therefore, as part of our 'Responsible Tourism Policy', we are therefore committed to:
● monitor the carbon footprint and efficiency indicators for resource consumption (water and energy) and waste production and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions;
● assume continuous improvement in all dimensions of sustainability: environmental, social and economic;
● contribute to the recovery of local heritage (cultural and natural), to the rehabilitation of the identity of places, in perfect harmony and dialog with local communities;
● plan the brand's future projects, subjecting them to the criteria of sustainability and efficiency in the use of resources, also prioritizing the preservation of the identity features of houses and buildings, the contribution to the regeneration of territories in demographic decline, to the promotion of local economic activities, and for the integration of endogenous products in buildings, amenities and experiences;
● respect the principles of eco-design and the circular economy, introducing sustainable and durable solutions, and designing as many components as possible so that they are easy to dismantle, recover or reuse at the end of their life;
● train and motivate our employees with training and awareness-raising activities on the principles of sustainability and responsible tourism;
● ensure that the brand's sustainability principles, as set out in the welcome manual, are respected and adopted by employees in a committed manner;
● promoting the principles of sustainability to customers through the "Environmentally Friendly Guest-Traveler Awareness Manifesto"
● participating in or promoting environmental education activities, promoting measures to preserve biodiversity, combat climate change and social responsibility in the communities where we are present, and collaborating in sustainable development projects in these territories;
● regularly reporting ESG performance to official or certifying bodies, and informing customers about the company's environmental and social practices, measures and actions.
We are also committed to the vision and concerns set out in the "Bruntland Report" presented in 1987, as well as the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proclaimed in 2015 by the UN General Assembly and included in the 2030 Agenda. On a European scale, we are aligned with the aims set out in the European Ecological Pact'2050 (Green Deal), and the Tourism Strategy 2027 from Turismo de Portugal. The brand's commitments will be regularly audited and confirmed by independent entities. We are currently recognized by the "Biosphere" certification awarded to Story Studio PIÓDÃO and by the "360º Tourism Companies Program" from Turismo de Portugal, awarded to the brand.
